- Our desire to make teaching quality physical education, activity, and fitness easy and FUN for everyone
- Who developed Tandalay?
- Tandalay Curriculum was developed by Tami Phillips, MS., Kinesiology. Faculty at California State University, Fresno, she teaches the college course "PE for Children" and recognizes the need for an effective solution for educators. Tami has extensive background in the fitness industry and brings fitness, standards, and FUN together with a comprehensive program filled with PLAY. Phillips also founded a nonprofit organization, Kids Moving Incorporated, which works to promote affordable and accessible physical activity programs for communities across the nation.
- Tandalay’s solution is simple. Every aspect of our program is designed to ensure that:
- Instructors do not need to spend additional time in preparation.
- It is FUN so that all want to participate.
- ALL players feel successful and enjoy enhanced self-esteem.
- Lessons do not entail a lot of set-up and multiple pieces of equipment for a single lesson.
- It is easy to implement. Tandalay is presented in a point-click-and-play format that anyone, from a high school student to a physical education specialist, can use to teach quality physical education, activities, and fitness.
- Can I get a hard copy of your curriculum or is it just online? Why?
- Our curriculum is available online and users are able to print out lessons or units. Binders can be purchased from our online store @ All-Out-Play.com
- At Tandalay we keep evolving and improving our lesson plans, video library, newsletters, and assessment software. Your subscription includes all updates and new features.
- How long does it take to teach a lesson?
- Every lesson has a warm-up, four activities, and a cool down. Activities have no specific time designation. Play as long as everyone is having FUN! But remember to stop BEFORE the enthusiasm does. Generally there are more than enough activities and games in each lesson for an hour or more of play.
- In physical education we believe more is better. Pick and play your favorites for the day, extend your lesson over two days, or use for a full hour or two of after-school recreation fun!
- How many lesson plans are available with my subscription?
- For each developmental level (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) we have 30 weeks of lesson plans.
- With five lessons a week, and 5 activities per lesson, that gives you 150 lesson plans, or 750 games and activities per developmental level, and because there is access to all developmental levels, there is total of 450 lesson plans and over 2,250 games and activities.
- With your membership you have access to all of them!
- What type of equipment will I need to teach these lessons?
- Each unit requires just a few pieces of equipment to keep setup quick and easy. We recommend purchasing the Basic Bundle (or Bare Essentials, or Bonsai Bundle – each designed to meet your budgetary needs) for every single teacher. Our Bundles include easy-to-store, functional equipment that can be used indoors or out for literally thousands of activities.
- In order to meet all standards and fully utilize the Tandalay Curriculum, schools may opt to purchase the equipment included in Sports Pack. Sports Packs can be purchased from US-Games or from GL Sports with a separate purchase order. The equipment is put together and ready to order.
- Fluffilos, Tandanas, high energy music CDs and Move Your Body and Work Your Body card decks are available for individual purchasel.
- Gotta-Getta Fluffilo! What is a Fluffilo? A Fluffilo is a large, fluffy, brightly- colored yarn ball. It is softer and less dense than a fleece ball, making it easier to catch and throw, leading to increased success and confidence.
- How much equipment should I order?
- We recommend a classroom set of the Basic (Bare Essentials or Bonsai) Bundle for every instructor. These easy-to-store bundles provide instant fun – indoors or out – for the whole year!
- We recommend at least one grade level set of the Sports Pack. Instructors may prefer to share between classes due to storage issues.
